Lucknow’s Urban Leap: LDA Greenlights 385-Acre Expansion and 1,100 EWS Homes

The LDA has approved an expansive 385-acre plan featuring seven private townships and four new residential schemes like IT City and Wellness City for 2026

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for the city’s future, approving a comprehensive set of projects spanning roughly 385 acres. This latest move by the board balances high-end private investment with a strong commitment to social welfare and affordable housing, marking a significant milestone in Lucknow's urban expansion.

A New Era of Townships: "Cities" of the Future

As part of the 2026 expansion plan, the LDA has finalized layout plans for four major residential schemes that are expected to redefine modern living in the capital:

In addition to these government-led schemes, seven private townships have been approved under the Uttar Pradesh Township Policy 2023, signaling a massive influx of private infrastructure development along the city's outskirts.

Priority on Inclusivity: 1,100+ EWS Units

Affordability remains a core pillar of the new plan. The LDA has approved a revised layout for the Sharda Nagar scheme, specifically to accommodate more than 1,100 housing units for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). Recognizing the need for sustainable growth, the plan also includes dedicated land for a new sewage-treatment plant (STP) to support these new residents.

Policy Wins for Homebuyers and Veterans

The LDA board introduced several people-centric policies to stimulate the real estate market:

Reclaiming and Redeveloping Shaheed Path

One of the most significant logistical victories is the recovery of a 43-acre tract behind the Police Headquarters on Shaheed Path. Once lost to encroachment, this prime land will now be redeveloped into a sophisticated group-housing and commercial hub, featuring green zones and modern amenities designed according to the latest building bylaws.

By resolving long-standing relocation issues for displaced shopkeepers and freezing property rates, the LDA is positioning itself as an authority that values both rapid growth and community stability. As we look toward the 2026 launches, Lucknow is clearly preparing for a new chapter of organized, inclusive urban development.
